Click it up a Notch - June favorite photo

Another month come and doggone gone-by-fast.

It was a tough month for photos. There was a faulty lens (now in repair) and just one of those slumps that come and go with any craft, I 'spose. So, the pickins were slim but, that doesn't keep me from choosing a favorite.

I had this one printed and already loved it, but then saw Elizabeth Halford's video tutorial on bringing out freckles and had to apply it to this sweetie.

As those freckles fade and this jaw line and adam's apple become more pronounced, it's nice to have this portrait of his last days in boyhood. The easily-enticed smile, the empty tooth hole and the simple cut of his hair may be gone in a matter of months, definitely within a few years, but he'll always be my baby.

Sweet Shot Tuesday - Pool Party

Our neighborhood had a community pool party over the weekend. It was a gorgeous evening with a lot of fun people. The pool mostly held only the kids, except for the parents of the little ones who had to go in with them and of course, my husband. :-)

Aside from the fact that I seem to have misplaced my swim top, (ahem) I really needed to take pictures. For the newsletter... you know.

Most of the pictures were of the snapshot variety, but, I caught this scene out of the corner of my eye and had to break off a conversation to grab it.

Posting as my Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Sweet Shot Tuesday

Time for another Sweet Shot.

Last week, I visited Jt's office for the first time in many moons. The first thing I noticed, of course, were the photos adorning his cubicle. You would never know he has a photographer for a wife. The photos were, aside from horribly outdated, just plain crappy. A few were from studios, where we went as a young family to make sure it was documented just how we looked in front of a boring, generic background. One was cell phone quality (at best) enlarged as if it were the pride of the gallery. And if it weren't for the missing noodles on the macaroni-art frames to prove it's age, they'd think Jt still had a couple of kindergarteners at home.

Ugh.

Fortuitously, he does have a photographer at home and more fortuitously one who had to think of Father's Day gifts for the coming weekend. So, the very next day the boys and I made the long trek to the side patio, set up the tripod and timer and took a few shots.

This one's a big accomplishment for me in that I realized afterward how easy it was. The settings were a no-brainer, the posing was thought-out rather than willy-nilly and most of all, I don't cringe when I look at it. (Let's just say I'm usually very happy behind the camera although theoretically I would love for my boys to have lots of photos of our days together.)

Hanging this one in my own blog office and at Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Simple Things Sunday.. Father's Day Edition

As moms we can feed them, clothe them, comfort them. We can teach them and love them fiercely. But, sometimes we just have to admit that when it comes time to play, we can't hold a candle to Dad.

Happy Father's Day, Jt!  For all you do, we love you!

Simple Things Sunday - Board Game Mash Up

Oh, the complexity of a board game in which the board doesn't matter. Add a deck of playing cards, Star Wars character cards and a deck of cards for magic tricks. Set the lovies to playing and you have quite simply, a lot of fun.

Not sure Simple Things Sunday is in effect this week, since Rebecca, who runs it is in Australia! But, I wanted to add this photo anyway and will link up later if it comes to be.

P52/Week 23: "Seasons"

I've committed myself to participating in a photography project called Project 52, where each week there's a challenge to take a photo with a particular theme and enter it on the group Flickr site.

Maybe it's a vegetarian thing, maybe it's not, but nothing makes me feel the seasons more than the fruits and veg that come and go with each of them.

P52/Week 22: "Yellow"

I've committed myself to participating in a photography project called Project 52, where each week there's a challenge to take a photo with a particular theme and enter it on the group Flickr site.

I'm running a week behind on my P52 project. Last week's theme was yellow and somehow not a single yellow thing caught my eye.  Not much caught my eye all week as I didn't post for any of my other projects either.

But, we're back in the game.

P52/Week 22: "Yellow"

These fellas are on an oft-driven road and I've wanted to take their picture for a while. Today was the day and sure enough I found my yellow.
